George II Mahogany Tripod Occasional Table

18th century
Description

Exceptional George II mahogany tripod occasional table; rare and unusual form with an excellent colour and patination; the square, solid mahogany lift up top having an extraordinary triple moulded edge with re-entrant corners revealing the box compartment lined in Georgian blue paper. The figured mahogany frieze with original brass escutcheon and working lock and key. The corners having an unusual moulding echoing that of the top. The tripod base having a turned gun barrel column raised on shapely cabriole legs terminating in pointed pad feet. This charming little table, in very good original condition which has achieved an excellent rich colour and patina.
