Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cranberry glass, also known as Gold Ruby glass, is a red-tinted glassware produced by adding gold salts to molten glass batch. Popularised during the 19th century in Britain, it was frequently fashioned into decorative jugs, vases, and tableware items.

Craftsmen created these pieces by hand-blowing the ruby-tinted molten glass, often incorporating applied clear glass details such as handles, feet, and collars. Precise temperature control during annealing was essential to develop the crimson shade.

Authentic Victorian pieces feature pontil marks on the base where the glassmaker rod was detached, alongside subtle shade variations inherent to hand production. Applied clear glass handles, rigaree trimming, and crimped or frilled rims are key structural features.

Positioning coloured glass pieces on window sills or near light sources allows natural illumination to highlight the translucent hue. Displaying them on open shelving alongside neutral ceramic vessels creates an effective visual contrast.

Wash hand-blown glass gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding dishwashers entirely to prevent chemical clouding. Dry immediately with a soft microfibre cloth to prevent water spots and protect against thermal shock.
