Antique Victorian Ruby & Diamond Navette Ring 18ct Gold - Birmingham 1886

We are delighted to offer this lovely antique Victorian ruby and diamond 18ct gold ring made in Birmingham 1886.

Three central tapering rubies are embedded between 12 old rose-cut diamonds (one appears to be possibly replaced with an old cut diamond) and are flanked by two further rubies set in the elegant 'shoulders' of the ring.

Distinguished in style and made in the late Victorian period, this ring features not only lovely stones but fine goldsmithing of the period. The overall gold mount, the intricate shoulders and the fine claws testify to such quality. A further look at the rear of the setting shows the level of detailing and finesse where each stone's mount has been carefully pierced and hollowed to allow for the perfect setting and light to shine through.

Such a combination of fine goldsmithing and jewellery design makes this an excellent and versatile choice whether be it for wearing as a contrasting piece of jewellery among other pieces or as an eye-catching single ring. The modest size allows for a subtle yet discerning statement and may also be the perfect gift for a very lucky young individual.

Ruby is known to be the birthstone for July and diamonds for April.

The ring is hallmarked with English marks for 18ct gold and Birmingham 1897.

Condition: Great antique condition with no major issues/damage. As per the description above, one of the rose-cut diamonds appears to have been possibly replaced with an old-cut diamond. This can be seen with a loupe but is almost indistinguishable to the naked eye.
