Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The table with a raised frieze edge, surrounding walnut banding, enclosed within strung and crossbanded borders, finished with turret quarters, a parquetry centre in kingwood and contrasting tulip wood pattern of 'tumbling cubes'. The frieze likewise with the 'tumbling cubes' decoration, between break front legs, inlaid with petal heads in boxwood and burr yew, held within a facing, supported by inlaid guttae, the tulip wood faced legs, enclosing kingwood cross banding, as the legs taper to brass sabots.
The frieze drawer with a Moroccan leather and gilt tooled edge writing surface, this sliding back to reveal a compartment divided interior. The drawer complete with lock, key and foliage cast escutcheon.
Date circa 1800.
