Large Scottish Silver Agate Set Brooch. C1880.

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Jo Brayshaw

Large Scottish Silver Agate Set Brooch. C1880. Superb condition, polished agates set into a silver anchor, chased decoration and an entwined silver rope. Unmarked, they usually are, tests as silver. A whooping 3 inches (7.5cm) from top to bottom, the steel pin is good and closes securely. The Victorians viewed the anchor as a symbol of safety and reliability in the tide of life and the wearing of an anchor indicates to the world the wearer is grounded and committed to their hopes and dreams for the future. All my photos are taken using natural light only. Arrives with the box illustrated. Ready to wear. Our ref 9356
