C19th Italian bronze ‘Grand Tour’ souvenir, after the antique, lidded cup or tazza on a rouge griotte marble base.
Classical design bronze twin-handled vessel decorated with symbols celebrating the cult of Bacchus and wine , cast with opposing cameo head depictions of the god to each side . Further grape vine decoration, raised on a cast pedestal foot mounted upon a circular rouge griotte marble vase .
The twin handles of extended design and form with flattened tops .
The removable lid with key pattern decoration to the edges , and surmounted with a cast berry finial .
The bronze has achieved a superb patina and colour. In excellent condition with no damage or repairs.
