Striking Carriage Clock Dent of London

1900 - 1920
Description

A French striking carriage clock retailed by noted makers, Dent of London. The original travelling box and key. An enamel dial with blued steel hands signed 'Examined by Dent, 23, Cockspur Street, London'. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a gong. A lever escapement visible through the oval top glass. Stamped 'EGL Paris' to the mechanism backplate. A serial number of 2957. Circa 1900.

Dent of London were quality watch and clockmakers and retailers. They famously made 'Big Ben' the clock in the Palace of Westminster.

Height 5 1/2" / 12cm (size with handle down) Width 3 1/2 " / 9 cm Depth 3 " / 8 cm
