Victorian 1.00 Carat Demantoid Garnet & 1.30 Carat Old Cut Diamond Ring, Circa 1890

19th century
Description

A top class antique demantoid garnet ring. It’s incredibly unusual to find demantoid garnets of this size, and fine example is internally clean and displays a slightly olive-y hue with bright flashes of electric green. The stone is flanked by a pear of cushion shaped old mine cut diamonds, with a total of six rose cut diamonds dotted between the three gems. The beautifully carved gallery leads to ornately carved shoulders to a slim D-shaped shank.

Accompanied by a report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) confirming the garnet is demantoid.

Cut – Cushion cut demantoid garnet with two old mine cut diamonds and six small rose cut diamonds.

Colour – The old cut diamonds are J to K.

Clarity – The demantoid garnet is eye-clean. The old cut diamonds are VS1 to VS2

Carat – The garnet is approximately 1.00 carat; each old cut diamond is approximately 0.65 carat, with a further approximate 0.06 carat of rose cut diamonds.

Circa – 1890.

Size – N (UK) or 6.5 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.

Measurements – The demantoid garnet is approximately 7.2 x 5.4mm. From the outer edge of one diamond to the other is 14.25mm. The ring is 8.4mm at the widest point and sits 3.75mm from the finger.
