Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cut glass lamps from the late Victorian and Edwardian eras feature heavy lead glass carved with precise geometric patterns, such as diamonds, starbursts, and hobnail cuts. These lamps typically combine glass shades with metal fittings and solid crystal pedestals designed to refract light.

Traditional cut glass lamps were crafted using heavy lead crystal to ensure depth of clarity and brilliance when cut. Supporting components, galleries, and internal stems were generally made from solid brass or silver-plated metal.

Authentic pieces exhibit sharp, hand-cut facet edges rather than smooth rounded edges typical of modern molded glass. They are significantly heavier due to high lead content, produce a clear ringing tone when lightly tapped, and often show slight natural wear on the underside of the base.

Place the lamp on a dark wood sideboard, marble console table, or bedside cabinet to allow the clear glass to contrast with surrounding textures. The prismatic glass creates refined ambient light that enhances both modern neutral schemes and traditional interiors.

Ensure the lamp is unplugged before cleaning. Wipe the glass elements using a microfiber cloth dampened with warm water and mild dish soap, taking care not to submerge electrical wiring or corrode metal fittings. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners that can dull the crystal finish.
