Royal Worcester Cup and Saucer. Swans, Charley Baldwyn, D. 1907.

Description

A fine and extremely rare Royal Worcester ‘Swans’ porcelain cup and saucer, Charley Baldwyn, d. 1907. The slightly ovoid shaped cup, with a band of reticulated trellis work, within a scroll moulded rim, and set upon a low, gilt pedestal foot. Beautifully hand painted with swans flying amongst grasses and reeds, upon a sky blue ground.The reverse, with a swallow in flight.

The saucer similarly moulded, and painted with three further swans amongst grasses.

The saucer signed C.H.C. Baldwyn.

Printed puce factory marks, and date code for 1907 to the undersides of both pieces.

Height of cup – 6 cm, 2 3/8”.

Diameter of saucer – 14.7 cm, 5 3/4”.

Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
