Circa 1840. An early Victorian mahogany two-part secretaire military chest. The rectangular shaped chest in a mellow colour, the top with all its original brass strapping’s, the top right-hand drawer is fitted as a secretaire with a well fitted interior, with a leather writing surface, pigeon holes and a few small drawers in birds eye-maple. The drawer on the opposite side has lift out sections, all the drawers have elegant brahma style escutcheons and flush brass military handles. The chest which is in two sections has three full length graduating drawers beneath the top, beneath the bottom drawer there is a simple moulding, the chest rests on four turned tulip shaped feet.
