This is a fine quality antique Georgian Welsh dresser, comprising a rack and pot-board base, made from solid oak, boasting a rich colour, originating from South Wales, circa 1780 - 1800, in excellent original condition. The Georgian dresser comprises a boarded rack, with horizontal shelves that can support plates, with a raised lip at the front, to stop the plates sliding off. To the top of the rack there is a lovely moulded protruding cornice, with a straight frieze. The shelf fronts retain the original iron cup hooks. The rack rests upon the dresser base with sturdy vertical tenons that slot into the dresser base, to secure it into place. This Welsh dresser frame is constructed in the traditional manner with peg & joined construction. The dresser base boasts a solid oak twin-plank top, with an arrangement of three working drawers below, which retain the original wooden knobs. The drawers retain the original pine drawer linings and are constructed with hand-dovetailed joints, and close flush to the frame.
