This is a Volkstedt porcelain figure emblematic of Art, dating back to the late 19th century. It is modelled as a classical woman holding an artist's palette beside an easel. An underglaze blue mark is present.

This piece hails from the elite porcelain factory Richard Eckert & Co AG in Rudolstadt-Volkstedt, Germany, a period between 1894 and 1914. Volkstedt-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany, was founded in 1760 by Georg Maheleid during the reign of Prince Jean-Frédéric de Rudolstedt. Volkstedt-Rudolstadt porcelain has garnered a reputation for its white bisque or painted and meticulously modelled porcelain figurines, which remain highly sought after by collectors to this day.

The figurine measures 22 cm in height. Remarkably, even the thumb of the left hand peeking out of the palette - a seemingly minor detail - is fully intact.

The condition of the figurine is excellent, with no visible signs of cracks, chips or restoration. The colours and gilding are as well preserved as if the figure emerged from under the artist's brush just yesterday, rather than more than 120 years ago.
