Chinese Famille Rose Plate, C. 1740, Qianlong Period.

18th century
Description

Chinese porcelain dish, c. 1740, Qianlong Period. Hand painted in famille rose, and iron red enamels, heightened in gilt, with a central panel with an array of objects placed amongst rocks, and flowering plants, including a vase, a censer, a scroll, and fruit in a jardiniere.

Having a broad border of a complex scroll, containing alternating panels of scrolling foliage, and flower heads upon a turquoise cell motif.

The rim with a continuous whorl motif, in iron red.

Two simple flower scrolls in iron red, adorn the reverse, around a burnt orange foot rim.

Diameter – 23 cm, 9 1/8”.

Condition – Typical very minor wear to the enamel. No damage. No restoration.
