Antique Treen Five Tier Spice Tower - Original Labels

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Opus Antiques

This is an early 1800s sycamore spice tower. It is a bigger size than most being a five tier example. Each compartment including the lid unscrew for storage of spices. It still retains its original labels, each one decorated with foliage at the top. The labels are Ginger, Cloves, Allspice, Nutmegs and Cinnamon.

The rim of the lid has been very well repaired. The labels for display can all line up. If you want to tighten each section to make them air tight, the labels will not all line up. This is a good sign as over the years the threads on each section will wear down differently depending on use. It has a good colour and patina.

The tower measures 27cm h x 9.5cm w.
