Delightful Pair of Georgian Silver Pepper Pots by Elizabeth Morley, London 1812

Description

These sweet Georgian silver pedestal pepper pots were made by the highly sought-after female silversmith Elizabeth Morley and are dated London 1812. Of inverted baluster form, the slip-on covers with reeded borders and concave shoulders. The plain body with no initials or later embellishments. Raised on a circular pedestal foot. Gilt interior on both main body and inner cover.

Hallmarks:

London Assay mark.

Duty mark.

EM for Elizabeth Morley.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "R" for 1812.

Dimensions:

Height: 9cm / 3.4 inches.

Diameter: 4cm / 1.4 inches.

Total weight: 2.9 oz / 82 g
