Antique Porcelain Vase Sitzendorf, Late Xix Century

19th century
Description

Depicting three cherubs holding a vase with decorated flowers

The Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur Wilhelm Liebmann manufactory was founded in 1850. Most of the manufactory was destroyed in an explosion in 1858. It was rebuilt by Liebmann with the help of his business partner Wilhelm Ortel.

In 1884 Alfred and Karl Wilhelm Voigt bought the manufactory and in 1890 a branch was opened in Unterweisbach. In 1896 the company was converted into a joint stock company.

Financial problems caused by World War I and the ensuing global financial crisis forced the factory to close the Unterweisbach branch in 1928. Four years later, thanks to the efforts of Reinhold Rebhan and Max Krausse, the financial situation improved. The new owners named the factory Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur A.G..

During World War II, the factory's production was concentrated on military products. In 1958, the East German government began to influence the management of the factory. In 1972 the factory was nationalised.

In 1990, the Sietzendorf factory was privatised. In 2012, production was completely stopped.

The crossed lines mark used between 1884 and 1902.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
