Rare American Sterling Silver Sewing Compendium , Circa 1900

1900 - 1920
Description

This exquisite sterling silver sewing compendium dates circa 1900. Of cylindrical form, housing a, thimble, a three division reel, a needle case and cover. The hinged body decorated with masks and ribbon-tied garlands surrounding two oval cartouches . This is a cleverly designed and still very functional silver piece. These sewing compendium are scarcely seen in such good and complete order.

Hallmarks:

Impressed "Sterling" at the base.

Dimensions:

Height: 5.6cm / 2 inches.

Diameter: 2cm / 0.6 inches.

Condition:

Silver case in good condition .

Inner bobbin/needle/thimble holder in equally good condition.

Strong hinge.
