Antique Early Oak Furniture 17thc Charles 1 Joyned Stool. English C1625-40

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Mark Seabrook Antiques

A fine example of a 17thc oak ''joyned'' stool from the reign of Charles1....it is carved under the top rail with a simple lunette design above a delicate scratch moulding and the seat not only has a ''double'' thumb nail moulding, (an early feature) around the edge, it also has traces of a scratch geometric design also around the top edges....it stands on boldly turned baluster legs and the stretchers all have triple line mouldings ....there is a simple repair to the inside of one stretcher ( see picture) and the underside of the seat has been rather crudely supported by three braces, which could easily be removed, as they don''t seem to be supporting anything.....excellent colour and overall condition and even still retaining its original toes..!

English. C1625-40.
