Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency fire tools were created in early nineteenth-century Britain, drawing heavy inspiration from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian design. They typically feature refined proportions, polished brass components, and neoclassical ornamentation such as urn finials or acanthus leaves.

Authentic period fire tools were primarily crafted from cast or wrought iron and solid brass. Brass was frequently used for decorative handles, finials, and shovel blades, while steel or iron provided structural strength for handling burning fuel.

Authentic tools often show signs of hand-casting, minor asymmetrical details, and natural oxidisation in hard-to-reach crevices. They generally feel heavier than modern hollow reproductions and feature screwed or riveted joint construction rather than modern welding.

Positioning antique brass tools alongside a modern minimalist log burner or contemporary fireplace creates a compelling visual contrast between metallic textures and modern materials. Their warm brass tone adds depth and historic character to both traditional and eclectic living spaces.

Clean brass fire tools using a soft microfibre cloth and a mild soapy water solution to remove soot and surface dust. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive scouring pads that can scratch the metal or strip away natural age-related patina.
