Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco glass lighting from the 1930s is defined by clean geometric shapes, frosted or tinted pressed glass, and stylized figurative forms. Manufacturers often utilized soft hues like peach, amber, or pale pink to diffuse light evenly through mould-moulded shades.

These lamps were constructed using thick batch-dyed pressed glass, often finished with acid-etched or frosted surfaces. Metal components typically comprised chrome-plated brass or nickel mountings to house the electrical fittings.

Authentic pieces display distinct mould seams, period-appropriate chrome fittings, and characteristic heavy tinting in shades such as peach or green. Original glasswork often features precise geometric faceting and smooth, weighted bases.

Position the lamp on a dark wood sideboard, marble console, or bedside table to create an ambient focal point. The peach tint pairs effectively with neutral backdrops, metallic finishes, and period-inspired decor.

Clean glass surfaces using a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap, taking care to avoid harsh chemicals that may strip delicate surface frosted effects. Ensure all internal electrical wiring is inspected and safety-tested by a qualified electrician prior to use.
