Gritzner & Co, of Durlach in Baden, Germany, hand sewing machine in exceptional original condition with walnut case.
As shown in the pictures the carrying case has its original folding handle & working lock which ensures that the case covers and protects this machine having preserved its rare condition.
Still in full working order, it has a cast steel machine casing which is black enamelled , gilt & floral decorated including Mother of Pearl insets. Still fitted with its famous pressed brass company logo plaque featuring a spider, possibly to show its ability to stitch silk threads.
Max Carl Gritzner founded his manufacturing company in 1872 with the machines having been imported for sale by important retailers of the day. The condition & serviceability of this item are testament to its manufactured quality.
Suitable for domestic use or could be an impressive display/decorators choice.
