Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Henri II style mirrors, popular in late 19th-century France, draw inspiration from Renaissance architecture. They feature prominent architectural elements such as arched frames, pediments, turned side columns, fluting, and spindle cresting crafted from solid hardwoods.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid European oak or walnut using hand-joined mortise and tenon cabinetry techniques. The mirror glass typically features bevelled edges and hand-applied silvering processes characteristic of historic glass manufacturing.

Authentic pieces display crisp hand-carved woodwork, original solid timber backing panels, and natural wear patterns along high-touch surfaces. The mirror plate may also exhibit subtle oxidation or foxing consistent with age.

Positioning the mirror above a fireplace mantelpiece or modern console table creates a dramatic architectural anchor. Pairing dark carved timber with clean plaster walls and contemporary furnishings creates a refined contrast between historic and modern design elements.

Dust the timber frame regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly along the grain to maintain the finish. Clean the glass plate with a lightly dampened cloth, avoiding moisture contact with the frame joints or backing.
