Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Signet rings historically served as personal identification tools used to press a unique coat of arms or monogram into wax seals on official documents. The shield shape specifically draws inspiration from heraldic imagery, gaining immense popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian eras as a symbol of heritage.

Antique signet rings were predominantly cast or forged in solid gold, commonly ranging from 9ct to 18ct, as well as sterling silver. Rose gold was particularly favored during the late 19th and early 20th centuries due to its warm hue created by alloying gold with copper.

Authentic pieces usually feature British hallmarks stamped inside the band, indicating the gold purity, the assay office location, and the year of manufacture. Natural surface patina, soft age-related wear, and traditional hand-engraving techniques also distinguish original antique examples from modern reproductions.

Signet rings are highly versatile pieces that can be worn on the pinky or index finger for a understated look. They pair seamlessly with modern tailoring, minimalist gold bands, or complementary vintage timepieces for a layered aesthetic.

Clean rose gold jewellery using warm water, a mild soap solution, and a soft-bristled brush to remove surface residue. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive materials, and polish gently with a specialised microfibre cloth to preserve the natural metal tone.
