Howard & Sons Ivor Armchair

1900 - 1920
Description

A Howard & Sons Ivor model armchair. One of the largest models Howard produced, having all of the original horse hair and Siege de Duvet and recently re-covered in H&S ticking. This highly original chair raised on mahogany legs with original stamped casters. Chair stamped to back leg "Howard & Sons Ltd, Berners St, London. English, Circa 1910. A superb example throughout.

The chair originates from Hylands House, Hylands Park Chelmsford. It was sold in the Strutt & Parker sale of the estate in 1964, lot number 197 (see attached) and it has been in the same ownership until recently. We share an image of the chair in situ in the 1960's.
