Victorian Folding Screen Room Divider (Castle Howard)

Description

A handsome antique mahogany upholstered three panel folding screen room divider dating from circa 1880 and by repute from Castle Howard. Upholstered in pink/red velour on both sides with a mahogany frame with a gilt slip. Standing 5ft6? tall the three folding panels fold away completely, so when not required it can be neatly tucked away. The front and back are both upholstered and surrounded by a mahogany frame which folds on good quality solid brass gun barrel hinges. It has gilt slips and fancy gold braid to the edges and decorative turning to the mahogany frame.

The upholstery is in fairly clean order with no tears or splits – a bit faded in places and some small marks here and there. Small section of frame missing to bottom of one panel.
