This is a beautiful example of early English oak. Wonderfully original with a stepped interior of six beautifully made oak lined concave drawers and sliding secret compartments - maybe some still to be found!
All the little internal brass handles are original, at some time the larger drawer handles have been replaced with sympathetic replacements.
The colour and patina are deep and rich, which can only be achieved on pieces of furniture of this age. It has obviously always been well looked after as in in fantastic condition.
