| GEORGE III MAHOGANY 'SPIDER' GATE-LEG TABLE WITH DRAWER C. 1780 |
A very fine George III spider legged table. All solid mahogany and made by hand in around 1780. The long legs finely ring turned at intervals and terminating in handsome pad feet. The leaves open smoothly and rest firmly on the gate legs and the table is firm, robust and practical when open and when closed.
The oak lined drawer has dovetailed joints and is in clean and sound condition. It has a fine brass handle which appears to be original and the drawer opens and closes smoothly.
The bed and leaves to the top are solid mahogany of good rich colour and patination.
Minor dings, marks and bruises consistent with age and use. No breaks or repairs and no cracks or significant marks.
A very good and original example in excellent order throughout.
Dimensions are: 28.5 inches high, 27 inches deep and 34.5 inches wide when both leaves are extended, 12 inches wide when both leaves are down. |
| Date: 1780 |
