Description:
A 19th century set of eighty three Intaglios from the 'Grand Tour of Italy' bound as leather books.
Each intaglio has a border of gilt card and are individually numbered. The boxes that the intaglios are mounted in are made to look like a set of four books, are leather bound, gilt tooled, entitled 'Medallions' and numbered from I to IV. The inside edge of the boxes are signed "Bound by Robert Seton Mound Edin." Robert Seton was working at the Mound in Edinburgh in 1831-40.
All of the intaglios are in good condition though the leather has some rubbing in the corners. (Circa 1831-40)
