Description:
Very impressive large size early 19th century Georgian oak breakfront bookcase in extremely good and original condition. The top section with very nice "Gothic" type design glazing to the doors with mostly the original Georgian glass. Nice shape cornice to the top. Fully adjustable shelves within which are all original with nicely moulded front edges.
The base with cupboards also with fully adjustable shelves within. The out side of the doors with nicely applied mouldings for decoration, finished with a nice shape plinth below. The centre section of the cupboards has been fitted with drawers inside in Victorian times but the original shelves are still there so the drawers could easily be discarded if desired.
The whole piece is a lovely "nutty brown" colour throughout and has not been re-polished. The piece really oozes quality.
SIZES; Just under 10 foot long. 20" deep at the deepest middle point. 8 foot 8" high overall. 37" from the ground to the waist.
Date: 1820
