Description:
An extremely pretty Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian Oil Lamp, the striped pink and white vaseline glass font mounted upon a finely drawn and fluted baluster column which rises from a heavy stepped and beaded round base. Altogether superb quality. The font collar stamped, MESSENGER'S PATENT., for the Makers, Samuel S. Messenger and Sons, established in Birmingham prior to 1835. Good, clean burner, the wick winder buttons each inset with a rosette. The whole ensemble topped off with a replacement clear glass chimney, as one would expect, and an attractive, florally patterned replacement 20th Century shade of uncertain vintage. A first class item for the imaginative Interior Decorator.
