1930s DECO SUGAR OR CANDY HOLDER WITH GLASS LINER |
| NEW. A stylish Deco plated sugar or candy holder, with a relief patterned handle and fitted glass liner. The upper holder section is decorated with a band of relief stylised fan designs, the lower section is tapered and recessed on a stepped circular base. The edge of the glass liner is cut with a band of half ovals. Condition: small flux or finishing mark on the underside of the base; some light rubbing to the plate; minor age and use wear, undamaged - if you have any questions about this item, contact me. WMF Art Deco Style Silver Plate Leaf Dish |
| This attractive, lightly engraved WMF silver plate leaf shaped fruit bowl stands on two ball feet and the handle and measures 11.5" (29cm) long and 6.25" (16cm) wide at its widest part, and stands 1.5" (4cm) high.
The plating on it is in very good condition, and is silver on brass, and it is marked 'WMF brass Germany' just below the handle on the underside of the dish. It is in the Art Deco style, and would fit into both period and contemporary room settings.
The firm WMF was started in Germany in the late 1800's and still manufactures, though its most famous work stems from the Art Deco period. The initials stand for 'Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik'.
