Tall WMF art deco ice bucket |
| This is a tall and very elegant silver plated ice bucket by WMF and with the famous ostrich mark. The bucket is in art deco style, of tapering form on a tall stem with a circular foot. It has an overlapping brim and a broad hinged carrying handle. It is stamped under the base with the name Hotel Nollmann Bad Rothenfeld, which is a spa town in Lower Saxony in North West Germany, but the Hotel Nollmann appears to have gone. I would estimate this lovely architectural piece dates from sometime between the first and second world wars.
Condition: Excellent. Hardly any wear to the silver plating and just a couple of very minor knocks in the stem and bowl. A little wear and some scrapes in the bottom of the inside of the bucket where the champagne bottles rested, but not at all bad.

WMF Art Deco Style Silver Plate Leaf Dish |
| This attractive, lightly engraved WMF silver plate leaf shaped fruit bowl stands on two ball feet and the handle and measures 11.5" (29cm) long and 6.25" (16cm) wide at its widest part, and stands 1.5" (4cm) high.
The plating on it is in very good condition, and is silver on brass, and it is marked 'WMF brass Germany' just below the handle on the underside of the dish. It is in the Art Deco style, and would fit into both period and contemporary room settings.
The firm WMF was started in Germany in the late 1800's and still manufactures, though its most famous work stems from the Art Deco period. The initials stand for 'Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik'.

| A striking, twin handle table centrepiece, on a straight sided column and wide, stepped base. The centrepiece has a glass insert, the rim of which is embellished with four graduated designs, each cut with six saw tooth shellwork patterns and small lenses. The interior of the bowl is silver plated, the exterior is brass. Below the rim is a fine copper band with relief bell flowers, the handles and base are enhanced with white metal shields decorated with stylised grape and leaf motifs. All four sides of the column have pierced laurel leaf and berry sprigs. | An impressive and attractive silver plated table centrepiece in the Art Nouveau manner, mounted on four classical columns on a stepped pedestal base. The centrepiece has a glass insert with a wavy rim, the upper section of which is cut in eight segments with six clusters of ovals. The upper metal section has four X-pierced stripes between relief festoons of roses and flattened pilasters. The classical columns are embellished with grape clusters hung from laurel wreaths. The base is enhanced with grooved banding. c1900 WMF IRIDESCENT WINE JUG PITCHER FLASK DECANTER |
| A very fine claret or wine jug, with a long, drop shaped body and ornate metal top. The hinged top is decorated with relief scrollwork and leafy floral sprigs, the interior is silver plated; the scrolled handle is embellished with auricular designs. The glass body has a dimpled net like surface and displays good petrol iridescence depending on the light direction. Condition: scroll on the top finial out of true; hinge possibly at some time repaired (difficult to know for sure); hinge lug replaced; rubbing to the plate on the interior surface; no physical damage to the top or handle, no damage to the glass body - if you have any questions about this item, contact me.
