| This is a superb original watercolour painting of Exeter Cathedral by Cyril Hardy.
Cyril Hardy is a listed artist who painted European and Eastern Scenes.
The painting is of the Sout East side of the Cathedral.
Dating to the late nineteenth / early twentieth century period.
The watercolour is signed to the bottom left.
The painting is nicely framed and glazed.
The picture is 19 1/4" by 15 1/2" including the mount and frame and 11 3/4" by 8" excluding the mount and frame.
In very good condition, the frame has a few signs of general wear.

| This is a delightful original watercolour and gouache painting by John Shapland.
John Shapland (1865 - 1929) is a well listed artist. He generally painted in watercolour, his subjects were mainly Seascapes and Moorland Scenes. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Paris Salon and also in the USA. Shapland was principle of Exeter School Of Art from 1899 to 1913.
The subject of this painting is The Castle Rock, Valley Of The Rocks, Lynton, North Devon, there are Seagulls flying past at various heights.
Dating to around the early 1900's.
Signed to the bottom left.
The picture is 20 1/2" by 15 1/2" including the mount and frame and 14 1/4" by 10 1/4" excluding the mount and frame.
The painting is in good condition, the frame has some wear including the odd chip.

Lovely Victorian signed watercolour of rural scene,1876 |
| Super Late Victorian watercolour of a rural scene dated 1876. The gilt framed watercolour on paper depicts a rural scene with a young girl playing on the side of a river with a group of ducks in the foreground.
The landscape is signed J C Hennessy and dated 1876. It has clearly been professionally executed by a competent hand, with attention to detail in the rustic landscape. The painting has a good composition to the various elements, and has mellowed to a pleasing gentle colour palette, as opposed to landscapes with more vibrant and garish colours.
In terms of style it is very much in the genre of the idyllic and romanticised rustic landscapes popularised by artists such as Myles Birkett Foster and Helen Allingham.
The landscape is in good overall condition, with no evidence of any tears, old repairs or foxing blemishes.
It is quite rare to find a watercolour which is in completely untouched original condition and has never been repaired or restored in any way!
The watercolour has been recently re-mounted on cream card with pastel wash lines and re-framed in an attractive contemporary gilt moulded frame which complements this delicate and lovely watercolour.
