Royal Doulton Harvest Ware Water Jug 1891 - 1910 |
| Royal Doulton Harvest Ware water jug, complete with original pewter hinged lid. The jug dates from circa 1891 - 1910, and measures 7" high, 3.5" diameter at the base, and 2.5" diameter at the top.
The impressed backstamp is a circle with the crown and lion and the words 'Royal Doulton England' the number 3579, and what looks like an incised O.
The jug is a beige glaze at the bottom and brown at the top, with applied scenes of men drinking and hounds chasing a deer. The lid is original and fits the jug with a sprung metal band, and has a weighted hinged piece over the spout.
There is a small chip inside the rim of the jug, invisible from the outside, and I suspect it was caused by the metal rim of the lid. (This is reflected in the price). Otherwise it is in fine condition. |
