An INCREDABLY RARE ALMERIC WALTER bird by HENRI BERGE, C.1920. Fully signed round the base, 'A WALTER NANCY'. Made at Daum Nancy. It is also incised 'B' on top of the base for Henri Berge.It is quite magnificent in real life, and looks just like Jade on streaked glass base. SUPERB CONDITION, with no chips, cracks or restorations. I have never seen anything like this, which is most unusual nowadays. The only sort of simmilar I have been able to find, are at Sothebys in London, 14/10/2005. A very small inkwell sold for £1,680, and there was nothing to it. Same sale, a very small dish with a moth on it, 12.7cm, sold at £2,160. Gorringes auctioneers, Lewes, Sussex. Sale 19/10/2004. A snail 3ins long, sold £2,100. I think my bird much nicer. Therefore, I price this at a VERY REALISTIC price, as in a good deco or the like sale, I think it would sell at above £2,000. I guarantee this to be a period piece, and is is fresh to the market, as it came from an estate.
