Offered for sale is fine quality set of eight Victorian balloon back dining chairs in exceptionally good condition. The chairs are a lovely rich brown mellow mahogany / walnut colour. The set of eight mahogany balloon back chairs have a shaped back rail above a carved and pierced centre splat with newly reupholstered overstuffed seats on carved cabriole supports with scroll feet. The balloon back chairs are in excellent showroom condition having been cleaned, revived and waxed along with the seats reupholstered in a gold John Lewis fabric. Whilst listed as mahogany I think they are walnut but will go equally well with either mahogany or walnut. They have a makers brass plate to the underside - GM & HJ Story, Cabinet Makers, London.

Offered for sale is this superb quality set of six Victorian walnut balloon back dining chairs dating to about 1870. The chairs are a good mellow walnut colour that would go equally well with a walnut or mahogany table. They have a makers label underneath " From Thomas Ellison, Cabinet Maker and Upholsterer, 244 Park Road, Liverpool". They are a top quality set of chairs typical of a good cabinet maker with a crisply carved back rail above overstuffed seats reupholstered in a neutral gold and cream John Lewis fabric and on carved and turned supports. The chairs are offered in excellent showroom condition with all joints firm and the woodwork cleaned, revived and polished.

The overstuff seats are serpentine fronted and the chairs have been thoroughly checked and clamped as necessary, prior to traditionally polishing, waxing and reupholstering in a lovely cream damask with foliate design.

This beautiful set of six walnut balloon back chairs have beautiful shaped backs with carved centres, stand on splayed back legs and have beautiful turned front legs. The edges are moulded and the chairs have been recently upholstered in golden brown velvet, one chair has an old repair. The chairs are a rich medium walnut colour with a striking grain, good patina, are in very good condition and have been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.

Offered for sale is this exquisite fine quality set of six Victorian walnut dining chairs, the finest type of this model I have seen in over twenty five years. The chairs are a lovely rich mellow walnut colour made from fine quality figured walnut with extensive marquetry and inlay panels. The backs and seat rails are line inlaid with boxwood and ebony edging burr walnut crossbanding. The back has a carved top rail with a round floral marquetry inlay panel repeated on the top corners and centre rail. The top of the legs have a rectangular burr walnut panel outlined in boxwood with turned and tapered supports , the supports have round ebony inlay connected by boxwood stringing. The overstuffed seats have been upholstered in a complementary gold John Lewis fabric. The chairs are in excellent showroom condition having been cleaned revived and polished with all joints firm and the seats reupholstered in a gold John Lewis fabric.
