| 19th century Victorian complete leather writing box by very famous London maker Sampson Mordan, who made pens, inkwells, writing boxes, and many unique silver and gold items.
High quality Moroccan leather exterior, as well as full leather interior, and piano hinge shows the quality of the box.
Gilt brass plaque to lid with name of original owner.
Sampson Mordan lock is present, but without key.
Interior lid holds generous pull open leather paper folder, to hold stationary or important papers.
Size-13 inches wide by 9.5 inches deep, by 5.5 inches high.
Condition is generally very good, with only some scuffs to the leather, and the clasp to the stationary folder is detached, but present. It will need a new piece of elastic to be sewn on, as the original has deteriorated.
A very nice box to use for the storage of papers or stationary. Would look lovely on a desk.
