Marble and Gilt Cherub Clock Set by Vincenti et Cie. ~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Excellent condition ~~ A chic and decorative clock set of Italian Bardiglio variegated grey marble mounted with gilded metal. Two cherubim struggle to hold the clock aloft which is fitted in a marble case which is surmounted by a finial of a quiver of arrows and a bow. Pendulum is a sun goddess and can be seen swinging beneath the case. The side urns have gilt covers with pineapple finials and cherub handles joined with floral swags. Modelling of the mounts is excellent with a good original gild and these are offset by the beautifully understated marble. The dial is enamel on copper with floral swags between the Arabic numerals. It is complete with the original gilded fretted brass hands. The Vincenti French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. The backplate is fully marked with clockmakers mark and Paris retailers mark. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. Marble has a lovely finish with just a few very minor light surface marks and tiny nibbles to the edges. The dial is also in excellent condition with just a tiny hairline above the 12 o'clock. The set displays very well indeed, see the pictures below! Antique French Red Tortoiseshell Veneer and Ormolu Table Clock by Vincenti ~ French - Circa 1870 ~ ~~ Excellent condition ~~ A Large and impressive table clock, stunning Rococo design and in lovely, ready to display condition. Tortoiseshell veneer has mellowed with age to a lovely antique red and the ormolu mounts are bright and clean. The clock is a classic Louis XV shape with 'C' scrolls forming the four corners, extending down to the feet. the top is surmounted with a two handled urn filled with flowers. The large dial is also ormolu and is mounted with 24 enamel cartouches, it is complete with the original delicately fretted blued steel hands and is covered by convex bevelled glass. Beneath the dial is a window, framed by ormolu swags, in which the sun burst pendulum can be seen swinging. French movement is by Vincenti et Cie, a well renown maker, their mark is on the movement backplate. It runs for 8 days, strikes on a sonorous coiled gong and is in excellent, clean and running condition having been fully cleaned and overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. Condition of the case is very good. The tortoiseshell has mellowed to a beautiful colour. There is some slight and old cracking of the veneer on the top of the case. There are no recent repairs or damage and the veneer looks superb. The ormolu is also in excellent condition with clean and bright finish and there are no losses.
