Victorian Bisque

Pair Victorian Small Bisque Vases.

This pretty pair of continental bisque porcelain vases were made in the late 1800's, before 1891, and are in perfect condition. They measure approximately 6" high, and bear no maker's marks, just the numbers 7101 and 35 to the base. They are a pale yellow in colour, deepening to beige at the top and on the twisted handles, similar to the English blush porcelain of that period. They have glazed cobalt blue to the necks and the fronts are decorated with a spray of roses, forget-me-nots and lily of the valley.

c.1890 BISQUE GLASS VASE w. HAND PAINTED BIRDS MOTIF

An elegant, tall, ovoid vase, with a spire dome top and spreading pedestal base. The bisque coloured vase is hand painted with a well executed polychrome scene of four birds - possibly blue tits - perched on wood fencing, against a backdrop of trees, sky and further birds in flight. The scene is enhanced with large blooms, sprigs, leaves, scrollwork and ornamental patterns, as well as gilt banding. Condition: spire top possibly not original; small smoothed out chip to the top rim; some rubbing to the polychrome decoration; rubbing to the gilt; some natural speckling in the glass; no cracks or hairlines - if you have any questions about this item, contact me.
