Antique Brass Drum Head Table Clock. French - Circa 1880. |
| Beautiful Early Ormolu and White Marble Portico Clock with Silk Suspension.
~ French - Circa 1860 ~
~~ Excellent condition ~~
A lovely early Portico clock, particularly early with silk suspension movement. It is white marble with ormolu mounts, finely modelled as floral swags and baskets of fruit and flowers. Pendulum can be seen swinging below the movement mounted in the pediment of the portico, this is also modelled as a basket of flowers.
The dial is enamel on copper and is complete with original finely fretted gilt brass hands. Back door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen, the clock would display very well on a table.
The French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There are some nibbles to the edges of the marble and the marble has discoloured to a pleasant cream colour in places, particularly the urns on top of the clock. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. The dial has some slight chipping around the right hand winding hole.

Antique French Rococo Boudoir Table Clock ~ Samuel Marti |
| Antique French Rococo Boudoir Table Clock ~ Samuel Marti
~ French - Circa 1870 ~
~~ Excellent condition ~~
Stunning antique French boudoir clock featuring an adorable figure of a cherub playing a harp. The style is Rococo, waisted keyhole shape with acanthus leaf shoulders, 'C' scroll feet and surmounted by a floral finial. It stands on its original integral base. The front, sides and rear of the case are fretted and backed with red velvet and the rear door of the clock is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. The design is beautifully bold and heavily moulded in brass, well chased and finished. It is modelled in the round and so would display very well on a table.
Dial is beautiful, heavy brass with delicately patterned centre and an engraved minute ring. Hours are individual enamel cartouche letters. It is complete with its original delicately cut, blued steel hands.
The French movement is by Samuel Marti and is of excellent quality, their mark is on the movement backplate along with that of the Paris retailer's mark H&F. It is in clean and fully working condition and is complete with an old replacement pendulum.
