Veneered in figured walnut this Victorian work box comprises of rotating hinge top with a chess backgammon and cribbage board inlaid into it, below is a card and counters drawer, below this is a sliding drop well box for sewing upholstered in cream damask, the whole supported on petite well defined carved lion paw feet with brass casters.

| NEW. An elegant cut glass dressing table box with bevelled edges, and a pierced sterling silver push on lid. The lid is engraved with leaf scrolls and strapwork, the central cartouche is embellished with an engraved heraldic hound; the six point piercing indicates the original use as a toothbrush holder. | Victorian Burr Walnut Biedermier Work Box ca 1860
This beautiful antique Victorian burr walnut biedermeir work box has a quarter veneer, serpentine moulded top and the interior has two replacement lift out trays above a storage compartment. The piece is an unusual curved shape and stands on four elegant tapering cabriole legs. The piece is a golden walnut colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.

19thC bronze and champleve enamel table box. |
| 19th century Continental bronze and champleve enamel table box purchased at the sale at Belinda Gentle's home after her death in 2005. She was an internationally famous antique dealer and author of the main texts on antique metalwork. The metalwork gallery at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London is named after her (see gilt eagle for another listing from that sale).
It is a large and strikingly lovely table box with aesthetic scrolled designs in enamel to the four panels on the hinged top and above each leg.
Size-6.25 inches wide by 4.5 inches deep by 3.5 inches high.
In excellent original condition, with a wonderful patina to the bronze, this would be an beautiful decorative accessory, or most useful on a desk or dressing table.

| 19th century English Victorian period Japanned (paint layering technique) and beautifully matched mother of pearl inlaid work table on stand having chinoiserie decoration of cockerels, bamboo and flowers. The hinged top reveals a fitted interior for sewing accoutrement or jewellery over a sliding basket with original silk bag, terminating in scroll supports.
The mother of pearl decoration appears on all sides, legs, underside of lid and the fitted interior as well, allowing it to stand in the middle of room if desired.
In original excellent condition. It is unlikely that you will ever see another.
