c1880 STAFFORDSHIRE FATHER DAUGHTER DOG FIGURE GROUP
An absolute charmer in every sense. A relaxed and cheerful porcellaneous Staffordshire group modelled in the round, featuring an adult seated on a rustic stump; he wears a gilt feathered soft hat, a gilt knotted scarf under a broad collar shirt, a long jacket, knee britches and black shoes. He holds a mug of ale in his right hand, his left arm rests on the shoulder of a young girl who holds a small coloured flower posy in her right hand; she wears a similar hat, a gilt decorated dress and black shoes. A delightful spaniel with a pink muzzle and black highlighted coat sits next to the man's right leg. The base is further embellished with a half band of gilt. Condition: light rubbing to the decoration, otherwise excellent. Circa 1880, somewhat reminiscent of the "My Uncle" "My Aunt" figures. 7¼in/18.4cm high.
