A MASSIVE C.F.HURTEN exhibition vase |
| An EXTREMELY RARE chance to own an original VERY LARGE botanical copeland vase c1880 painted by Charles Ferdinand Hurten, and signed. He is regarded as the finest Victorian floral artist, as his paintings are so incredibly realistic and give such a depth of realism..Those flowers and leaves look like they are coming off the vase, and are painted in heavy raised enamels, and go around the WHOLE OF THE VASE. Hurten started work for copeland c1858-60 after being head hunted by the copeland management he was offered an annual salary of £320 per year which in todays terms would be well over £100,000.00. Hurten was also given his own studio, and allowed to paint freely on any type of ceramic, and any subject he chose to paint.. His works were exhibited at most of the major international exhibitions, and copelands came away with many awards due to this mans unique ability to paint. When you think, Solon at Mintons was on about the same wage as Hurten, you realise his importance, and that the copeland management would try to keep Hurten working for them at any cost.
A rare chance to own a piece by the finest artist of the 19th century..
