Solid Silver Tea Set

Fluted 3-piece silver coffee set  

This is an extremely elegant good quality individual coffee set by the very good makers Goldsmiths and Silversmiths. It is of solid silver and hallmarked 1918. The set comprises a coffee pot, milk jug and sugar bowl. They are in an extremely attractive fluted design. The coffee pot has a scrolled wooden handle and silver and wooden finial, the cream jug has a scrolled silver handle. The milk and sugar have lightly gilt interiors. Each piece has a small engraved star crest, possibly a crest for a hotel or shipping line. It could be for the White Star Line, but I don’t know. Condition: Excellent. No dents nicks splits or repairs and no scratching. Dimensions: The coffee pot is 6” (15 cm) tall and 3” (7cm) in diameter at the base. The cream jug is 2 ½” (6.5 cm) tall and 2 ½” (6 cm) in diameter at the base. The sugar bowl is 1 Ύ” (4.5 cm) tall and 2 Ό” (5.5 cm) diameter at the base. The interiors of all three pieces are perfectly clean. SOLID SILVER TEASET 1898.41 TROY OUNCES   

This superb silver Victorian teaset is made in a classical Georgian style and manufactured by the prestigious London silversmith Alexander Clark and assayed in Sheffield in 1898. The teaset is made from heavy gauge silver, weighing a substantial 41 troy ounces (1275 gr). The set is larger than average, the teapot measuring 11.75" (30cm) from handle to spout and 6.5" (16.5cm) high, and weighing 754 grams. The sugar bowl measures 7" (18cm) from handle to handle by 4" (10cm) high and weighs 318 grams. The cream jug measures 5.5" (14cm) from handle to spout by 3.5" (9cm) high and weighs 203 grams. The total weight is 41 troy ounces (1275 grams). The set is in excellent condition. There are no inscriptions, initials or crests on any item and never have been. The set is gilded inside, a sign of quality. The hallmarks are clear and legible. This is a fine example of the quality work of the English silversmith, and would enhance anyone's home or silver collection.

19thC set of French elegant solid silver hallmarked teaspoons in fitted case.  

19th century French solid silver hallmarked set of 6 delicate teaspoon sized spoons with original pale gilding to bowls, and double struck foliate stems and terminals. Presented in very nice fitted case, with associated silverplate tongs. 5.25 inches long. Spoons weigh 80 grams alone. A lovely, elegant, and unusual set in very good condition.

19thC ornate set of 5 solid silver French hallmarked silver gilt tea knives.  

19th century (post 1838) set of 5 French 1st standard solid hallmarked silver gilt tea knives, with .950 fine content. This is a higher silver content than English sterling. They are excellent quality, and weigh a full 305 grams. Marked to both blades and handles. With beautiful shell and leaf pattern to handles, these knives are excellent for cheese, butter, or cake, and would look lovely on any table. 8 inches long. In very good condition. RESERVED

Sheffield 1905 solid silver Art Nouveau cased set of sugar bowl, cream jug and sugar tongs, by James Deakin and Sons.  

Sheffield 1905 solid English hallmarked silver set of Art Nouveau twin handled tea service comprising sugar bowl, cream jug, and sugar tongs in original shaped fitted case by very good makers James Deakin and Sons, and retailed by famous retailer Hamilton and Co. of India. Graceful flowing repousse design is complemented by original gilt interiors. The boat shape of the sugar bowl, and helmet shape of the jug are lovely. Sizes-jug 3.74 inches wide by 2.5 inches high; sugar bowl 5 inches wide by 2.75 high; sugar tongs 3.5 inches long. All are enclosed in the original shaped and fitted case, with the only blemish being the silk in the interior lid of the case is foxed, which can be easily changed. A lovely 3 piece set of sterling silver in excellent condition.

Boxed Set Solid Silver Tea/Coffee Spoons & Tongs  

This attractive boxed set of six tea/coffee spoons and matching sugar tongs was manufactured by Josiah Williams in London in 1939. They weigh in total 85 grams, and the length of the spoons is 4.25" (10.7cm), and the tongs measure 3.5" (9.3cm). The spoon handles are in the Hanoverian pattern, with a shell pattern to the base of the bowls of both the spoons and tongs. They are in excellent condition, with no dents or wear to the bowls of the spoons and no damaage or distortion to the tongs. The case measures 6" (15.3cm) wide and 7.5" (19.5cm) long, and is in good condition, with a well fitting lid, and firm clasp, and bears the name of the retailer, the prestigious Powell & Son, Goldsmiths of High Street, Oxford.
