17TH CENTURY SMALL ELM SIX PLANK COFFER A NICE COLOUR AND PATINA,WITH THE INITIALS I D TOO THE FRONT OF SIMPLE DESIGN THE ODD KNOCK AS ONE WOULD EXPECT,THERE ARE SIGNS OF OLD WORM,THERE IS A CORNER MISSING TO THE LID,PART OF THE LEFT HAND SIDE FEET HAVE BEEN REBUILT AND THERE IS A PIECE OF BEADING MISSING TO THE SAME SIDE A GOOD SOLID COFFER 110 CMS WIDE 34.5 CMS DEEP 48 CMS HIGH A QUAINT COUNTRY PIECE THAT WOULD GRACE ANY HOME.

Small Period Country Oak Coffer ca 1690 This beautiful small period country oak coffer has a panelled lift up lid above a panelled front with moulded edges. The piece stands on raised feet and has oak panelled back and sides. One panel has a fine crack and the hinges are replacements, not unusual for an early 17th century piece of furniture. The piece is of a pegged construction, a warm medium / dark oak colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing. The piece stands on raised feet, has moulded edges and is of a pegged construction. The piece has some later moulding, base boards and hinges (this can only be expected for a piece of this age), is a rich medium / dark oak colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
