Birmingham 1989 solid silver superb and heavy superior quality engraved card case.  

Birmingham 1989 superior quality solid silver English hallmarked engraved card case weighing a very heavy 110 grams. Beautiful cushion shape. Leaf engraved sides surround alternating bands of striped engraving. There is also a blank cartouche within the design on one side which would be suitable for initials if desired. The hinged lid opens from the top, and closes securely. Lovely for business cards, making a great purchase or gift for a man or a woman. Size-2 7/8 inches wide by 3 7/8 inches long. A superb example in excellent condition.

Victorian Silver Vesta Case   

A Victorian silver vesta case, carrying maker's mark, JHT, for Joseph Hayes Taylor, and hallmarks for Birmingham 1880. The vesta has a ring attachment, sliding compartment and match striker. Width: 0.75 in / 2 cm Length: 1.375 in / 3.5 cm Condition : Very good. Some slight surface scratches commensurate with age.

London 1912 solid silver topped glass spirit flasks in crescent shaped glass, in fitted case by Finnigans of Bond Street.  

London 1912 English hallmarked solid silver topped glass spirit flasks in crescent shaped bottles, mounted in bespoke fitted leather case, by Finnigans of Bond Street. The glass is in perfect condition, and there is some slight bruising to one silver top. The silver tops screw on to the glass flasks, for a tight seal. Size overall in case-5 inches high by 2.75 inches diameter. Flasks alone-4.5 inches high, 2.4 inches wide and 1.1 inches deep. The case bears the retailers marks inside the lid. An unusual pair of cased flasks in very good condition.

Birmingham 1912 rare solid silver footed collapsible travelling beaker with original case by GEORGE UNITE, famous and collectable maker.  

Birmingham 1912 rare English hallmarked solid silver footed collapsible travelling beaker including the original silk lined case, which is very unusual to not have been separated from the beaker. Unusually large, this is a six section beaker by the very famous and collectable maker George Unite, and has a banded top, footed base, and the original gilt lining. Used by the well to do gentleman when travelling, this collapses to small size for the pocket. When expanded to full size, it provides a watertight beaker. Weight-125 grams. Size-3.6 inches high by 2.5 inches diameter by 2.6 inches diameter base. Closed-1 inch high. With very clear hallmarks, excellent weight, and in very good condition, this is a rare collectable, with a practical use.

Sheffield 1905 Edwardian most unusual pair of solid silver and ivory knife rests in fitted case, made by JAMES DIXON AND SONS, very well known makers.  

Sheffield 1905 Edwardian period most unusual pair of English hallmarked solid silver and ivory knife rests in lovely original fitted case. Made by James Dixon and Sons, a very well known firm who exhibited at the Great Exhibition. Registration marks are also present with the hallmarks. This beautiful and unusual pair of knife rests have a shaped silver six panelled weighted base, topped by a silver ball, with well carved ivory wings extending from each side. Size-3 inches wide by 1.75 inches high. A very elegant undamaged pair of knife rests in excellent condition, and contained in a very good original fitted case. A very unique gift for the collector, and lovely to use at the dining table.

Sheffield 1922 pair of solid silver unusual fox and maltese cross spoons in original case.  

Sheffield 1922 pair of unusual English hallmarked solid silver spoons made and retailed by F.J. Ross and Sons of Winchester. The stems terminate with a double struck figural fox to one, and a Maltese Cross to the other, over tear drop shaped bowls. In the original fitted case, they are in very good condition. The case has one loose hinge which does not interfere with closure. Weight-45 grams. Size-6 inches long by 1.4 inches wide bowls. A very nice pair of spoons, most suitable for preserves or sauces.

London 1937 very unusual nearly mint condition solid silver trefid end cold meat serving fork and serving spoon by Thomas Bradbury and Sons, and retailed by Gilmer of Bath, in original fitted case.  

London 1937 English hallmarked solid silver very unusual set of trefid ended cold meat fork and serving spoon, made by very good makers Thomas Bradbury and Sons, and retailed by Gilmer of Bath. Extremely thick and heavy gauge of silver, with large clear hallmarks, and retailer stamp to stem sides as well. In nearly mint condition, contained in striking blue gilt embellished original fitted case, lined with silk and black velvet. All pieces appearing to have had little if any use in 71 years! Weight-180 grams. Size-fork 8.25 inches long; spoon 8.5 inches long by 2 inches wide. A lovely, practical and unusual gift, or to use for oneself.

In very good condition, these dishes are suitable as coasters, or for nuts, bon bons or butter. Weight-95 grams. Size-4 inches diameter each. A lovely set to use or to give as an unusual but practical gift.

London 1913 pair of solid silver trefid end large rat tail bowled serving spoons in original fitted case, by Jackson and Fullerton.  

London 1913 pair of English hallmarked solid silver trefid end stems serving spoons, with large rat tail bowls in original fitted case. By very good makers Jackson and Fullerton. Of excellent quality, with crisp hallmarks, and very defined rat tails, these spoons were made in the 20th century, but in the 17th century style. Presented in original fitted red leather case on striking purple velvet lined interior. Original pale gilding remains in bowl interiors. Weight-95 grams. Size-7.5 inches long by 2 inch wide bowls. A lovely and practical pair to give as a gift or to keep. In excellent condition.

Sheffield 1938 and 1948 solid silver 13 piece dessert cutlery service by well known maker Emile Viner, in original case.  

Sheffield 1938 and 1948 hallmarked English solid silver 13 piece dessert service by well known maker Emile Viner, in original fitted case. Comprises 6 forks, 6 large bowled spoons, and a serving spoon. The stems have a threaded edge with a pointed end, a style very evocative of the 30's and 40's, and most popular today with contemporary interiors. Total weight of silver is 430 grams. Size-forks, 5.75 inches long; spoons, 5.4 inches long by 1.5 inch wide bowls; serving spoon, 8.25 inches long by 2.5 inch wide bowl. All in very good condition, including the original fitted case. Great value, and a practical item to give as a gift or to use.

c1910 SIMONS BROS CASED THREE BOTTLE SCENT PERFUME SET  

NEW. An attractive scent bottle set in a three compartment leather box with circular brass snap. The rectangular cut glass bottles have bevelled edges and cork lined, sterling silver dome tops. The outer edges of the box are decorated with gilt leaf stripes, the flap is lined with green felt. Condition: light wear to the box; two ridges along the green felt; bottles and tops undamaged - if you have any questions about this item, contact me. Circa 1910, tops stamped "sterling", maker's mark "S" within a shield for the Simons Bothers, Philadelphia. Bottles a little under 2¾in/7cm high, box a little over 2in/5.1cm wide.

Birmingham 1930 solid silver beautiful and intricately engraved matchsafe.  

Birmingham 1930 beautifully engraved solid silver matchsafe of excellent quality. Vesta cases and match safes are airtight cases made to contain short friction matches and keep them safe and dry. They were made in many materials, and some in precious metals like this one, usually with gilt linings, to protect against corrosion from the match heads. They were widely made and used from 1890-1920. Now, they are very collectable and interesting small antique silver items, used for pills, etc. Of excellent quality, this match safe has all over hexagonal engraving, a vacant cartouche, and tapered edges. Also includes original matches. Weight-40 grams. Size-2.5 inches by 1.75 inches. A lovely example in excellent condition.

Silver & Enamel Cigarette case.  

Silver and blue enamel cigarette case; this engine-turned silver case has a beautiful royal blue enamel lid, with a crown motif applied. This is a superb item, in wonderful condition. Highly regarded maker; typical of the period.. Lovely article to own. Birmingham. 1934. W. Benson Ltd. 8cm. x 9cm.

19thC unusual Continental cast solid silver gilt set of six coffee spoons in original fitted case.  

19th century unusual Continental cast solid silver gilt set of 6 coffee spoons with rams head terminals, and lovely oval shell bowls in original green fitted case, having stunning green velvet interior. Interesting family crest to back of terminal of each spoon. These spoons were retailed by S.J. Phillips of Bond Street in London. Size-4.25 inches long. A striking set in very good condition.

London 1910, solid silver rare original and complete travelling vanity or dressing case by famous maker MAPPIN AND WEBB, in fitted leather case.  

London 1910, English hallmarked solid silver rare and complete original travelling vanity set in dark green Moroccan leather case lined with aubergine moire silk, by very famous makers Mappin and Webb. Both the silver and the case have their makers marks. This service contains everything that would have been indispensable both at home, and on travels. It is the antique equivalent of the essential carry on case of today, with additional room in the case for jewellery, a change of clothes and reading material. The fittings comprise: 2 silver topped cut glass scent bottles, cut with panels and faceted shoulders; 3 other shapes of silver topped cut glass toilet bottles; a silver hair brush, silver clothes brush, silver and tortoise shell comb, silver shoe horn, a silver button hook, and a leather cased silver manicure set. In addition, there is a leather cased folding bevelled mirror, and a leather sketch/note book. All the silver is engraved with a beautiful foliate and scroll design. There is no monogram. Size of case-16.25 inches wide by 13 inches deep by 7.75 inches high. This set is complete, and even has the two original keys and their little leather case! A rare thing to find, in excellent condition, by an excellent maker.

Antique Silver Scissors Case.  

Edwardian silver scissors case, this "chatelaine" style case is beautifully embossed in typical period style, suspended from a chained belt loop. Blue velvet lined.Would also either accommodate a small pair of spectacles. Birmingham. 1904. Lawrence Emanuel. Length of case 16cm. Total length 22.5cm.
