Silver Basket
Victorian silver swing handled basket |
| This is a lovely Victorian swing handled basket by the very good makers Martin, Hall & Co. The basket is circular with upright sides slightly flared at the base, and stands on four ball feet. The basket is most exquisitely engraved with upper and lower bands of diamonds in circles and the centre comprises a series of cartouches with a stylised foliate strapwork design between each one. Alternate cartouches have a circular floral design, with two cartouche vacant, one with a monogram – h – and one with a double crest. The interior of the basket is gilt.
Condition: Virtually perfect
Dimensions: The basket stands 3” (7.5 cm) tall and 5 1./2” (14 cm) to the top if the swing handle. Diameter is 4 ¼” (11 cm)

1930s DECO SUGAR OR CANDY HOLDER WITH GLASS LINER |
| NEW. A stylish Deco plated sugar or candy holder, with a relief patterned handle and fitted glass liner. The upper holder section is decorated with a band of relief stylised fan designs, the lower section is tapered and recessed on a stepped circular base. The edge of the glass liner is cut with a band of half ovals. Condition: small flux or finishing mark on the underside of the base; some light rubbing to the plate; minor age and use wear, undamaged - if you have any questions about this item, contact me. | 19th century solid silver Dutch hallmarked sweetmeat basket, later imported into England, and therefore also with full English solid silver hallmarks for Chester 1913, a very collectable assay office.
In excellent condition, this basket has a braided handle and base edge, and is embossed with country scenes on both sides. One side shows two women, while the other shows a man and a woman.
Very good quality, and an unusual item.

Georgian Style Silver Plate Swing Handle Bread Basket |
| This beautiful Georgian style bread basket measures 12" (30cm) long by 8" (20cm) wide by 3.5" (9cm) high excluding handle.
It stands on four cast foliate feet. The body is pierced and the scalloped edge and handle are beaded.
The basket is in very good condition, with no loss of plate or dents or distortions, and could be used for bread rolls at the dining table, or would be equally suitable as a centrepiece holding fruit or even a flower arrangement.
