Silver Antique Heart Box

Birmingham 1887 large solid silver heart shaped box by Deakin and Francis in excellent condition.  

Birmingham 1887 English hallmarked solid silver hinged top large heart shaped box with all over repousse detail by Deakin and Francis, well known makers. The original gilt interior adds the perfect finishing touch. Size 5 inches wide by 5 inches high by 1.5 inches deep. Weight-170 grams. Two birds hold a floral garland to the top, amongst other foliate detail and a pair of sun faces. The sides are decorated with flowers and garlands. In addition there is some bright cutting, and crimped edging to top and bottom. In pristine condition, and with very large size, this unusual antique sterling box is a must for the silver box collector. On its own, it is the perfect romantic gift, or can be used to enclose and present a special piece of jewellery.

William Comyns silver heart shaped box  

A small silver, heart shaped box and cover by the well-known and collectable Victorian maker, William Comyns. Hallmarked for London 1890, it has an all over embossed design. A particularly appealing feature is an inscription on the base which reads "Amelia Lehmann from Stephen Coleridge Christmas Eve 1890" suggesting this box might have been given to celebrate an engagement. Approximately 1.5ins (4cms) by 1.25ins (3cms) high.
