Antique Brass Drum Head Table Clock. French - Circa 1880.  

Beautiful Early Ormolu and White Marble Portico Clock with Silk Suspension. ~ French - Circa 1860 ~ ~~ Excellent condition ~~ A lovely early Portico clock, particularly early with silk suspension movement. It is white marble with ormolu mounts, finely modelled as floral swags and baskets of fruit and flowers. Pendulum can be seen swinging below the movement mounted in the pediment of the portico, this is also modelled as a basket of flowers. The dial is enamel on copper and is complete with original finely fretted gilt brass hands. Back door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen, the clock would display very well on a table. The French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There are some nibbles to the edges of the marble and the marble has discoloured to a pleasant cream colour in places, particularly the urns on top of the clock. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. The dial has some slight chipping around the right hand winding hole. Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required. Early Victorian giltwood stool, with spiral twist legs. The upholstery in watered silk. Original Devon cabinet makers stamp to the base.

Birmingham 1967 lovely solid silver round powder compact with original silk pouch.  

Birmingham 1967 English hallmarked solid silver round engine turned powder compact with vacant cartouche to front. When opened, it reveals a mirror, and the original puff. Includes original moire silk carry case with soft liner. Size-2.5 inches diameter, and weight 52.5 grams. A lovely compact in excellent condition, to use or collect.

Superb Victorian walnut stool,silk upholstered  

Superb Victorian rectangular stool c.1860/70 in solid walnut with serpentine shaped framework, slender cabriole legs and carved acanthus leaf detail to the shoulder of the legs. It is a perfect size to use as a small stool in a sitting room or as a dressing table stool. The stool has been traditionally re-upholstered with horsehair and webbing and recovered in a good woven silk damask by the Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company in shades of ivory, sand, grey and rust, edged with a scroll gimp in matching colours. The stool has been well looked after and is in excellent condition. The joints are sound and the legs are not wobbly at all and there are no cracks or repairs to the frame. This elegant stool is in excellent original condition and is ready to use and enjoy!! Size: 18 inches square by 16.5 inches high.

SOLD...Portrait of a Young Lady c.1700; Follower of Kneller  

Oil on canvas in a good carved and giltwood period frame. A charming portrait of a young lady c.1700, absolutely typical of its period and painted by an artist strongly influenced by the style of the dominant portraitist of the time. As was the fashion, the sitter is depicted within a feigned oval SIR GODFREY KNELLER (1646-1723) was the most distinguished painter of baroque portraits in England. Born in Lubeck, he trained with Bol and Rembrandt, coming to London in 1676. By 1679 he had painted the King and remained the most famous and successful portrait painter in England until his death. In 1688 he was made Principal Painter to the King and was knighted in 1692 and a made a baronet in 1715. His style had a profound influence on British portraiture and a large number of artists, some very talented in their own right, emulated his fashionable style. SIZE: 37 x 33 inches inc. frame. A number of small damages to the frame, regardless of which is a fine one and the product of a highly skilled woodcarver. PROVENANCE: A Private Collection on the Welsh/Shropshire border for c. 40 years.

Henry Silkstone HOPWOOD  

Tltle 'The Showman. The Doges Palace and the Piazzetta, Venice' Hopood was a watercolour painter who exhibited at the RA, RWS, and the Glasgow Institute. He was born in 1860 and died in 1914. Size. 25x36cms. circa 1909.

Victorian Silk Embroidered Piano Shawl  

Stunning, rare Victorian piano shawl in deep crimson red. Hand embroidered with birds and flowers in creamy white silk thread and a long silk fringe. It is large and pictured here laid across a king size bed. It is in excellent condition for its age. The silk is soft and the colour is beautiful. There is one tiny hole (the size of a pinhead) and a few very small marks which we are pretty sure could be removed by professional cleaning (although they are hardly visible). A wonderful addition to any collection, to grace a fine room or to wear for a special occasion.

Good Early Victorian Armchair  

A good early Victorian armchair with well carved solid rosewood arm supports and cabriole legs with original brass casters. The buttoned horseshoe shaped back and serpentine fronted seat are upholstered in an apricot silk woven damask by the Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company. This comfortably proportioned armchair is a very good quality, elegant piece ideal for a drawing room or bedroom. Sizes: Height: 37 inches Width: 24 inches Depth: 25 inches
